SimStack ARINC – First Look
Simulator Solutions have finalised the design of their latest board – SimStack ARINC.
SimStack ARINC will provide customers the ability to connect real world ARINC 429 components directly to their Simulator network. Each SimStack ARINC board will support two independent ARINC 429 interfaces and requires a dedicated SimStack Foundation board.
Each of the two ARINC 429 interfaces provides:
- One Transmit bus (total of 2 per board)
- One Receive bus (total of 2 per board)
- Support for Hi or Low speed bus operation
The SimStack ARINC board uses aviation grade Holt ICs to ensure full compatibility with ARINC 429 standards. The Holt chips provide line level drivers and hardware based message data management to ensure all data is sent and received correctly.
Examples of compatible devices include Radio Control Panels (RCP), Transponders and data driven instruments such as Horizontal Situation Indicators (HSI), Artificial Horizons (AH) and Remote Magnetic Indicators (RMI).
Simulator Solutions will have a limited number of SimStack ARINC boards available for sale later this year. Whilst pricing is still to be finalised, early indications are that each dual interface board will sell for approximately USD200. With sufficient demand, SimStack ARINC may be offered in with a Single ARINC 429 interface version for a reduced price.
This is a high quality board using aviation grade components and is designed specifically for complex real aircraft instruments and components.
